Springer Nature has officially recognised the Journal of Sustainable Business for its strong contribution to research aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), highlighting the journal’s growing academic impact in the field of sustainability.

In an official communication from Nicola Jones, Director of the Springer Nature SDG Programme, it was confirmed that more than 50% of the articles published in the journal during 2025 were directly related to one or more of the 17 SDGs. This achievement reflects the journal’s continued focus on promoting research that addresses global economic, social, and environmental challenges.

As part of this recognition, the Journal of Sustainable Business has been awarded the Springer Nature SDG badge, which is now displayed on its official website. The badge is accompanied by a statement acknowledging the journal’s contribution, which reads that over half of its 2025 publications were SDG-related and that Springer Nature actively supports the SDGs through its dedicated SDG Programme. The organisation is also a signatory of the SDG Publishers Compact, which encourages academic publishers to integrate sustainable development principles into their work.

The recognition highlights the increasing importance of sustainability-focused academic publishing and reflects the journal’s role in advancing scholarly discussion around sustainable development practices across disciplines.

Professor Samuel O. Idowu, Lead Editor in Chief of the Journal of Sustainable Business, welcomed the acknowledgement and described it as an important milestone for the journal and its academic community. He noted that this recognition reinforces the journal’s commitment to publishing high-quality research that contributes to global sustainability goals.

This development comes at a time when academic journals worldwide are increasingly being evaluated on their contribution to real-world global challenges, particularly those related to sustainability and responsible development.
