Camilo had been seen that evening in Stuart Crescent with a friend. At about 9:26pm, the pair were walking on a footpath towards High Road when shots were fired. Both tried to flee, but Camilo was tragically struck by the gunfire and later died.

Why is the dark Range Rover with a white roof important to the investigation?

Detectives investigating the murder have released new CCTV footage highlighting a dark Range Rover with a white roof spotted in the vicinity during the days leading up to and on the night of the shooting. The vehicle was captured traveling along Williams Grove and Pellatt Grove, then back towards Stuart Crescent, before leaving the area via Ewart Grove and White Hart Lane. It was also seen later that night on Turnpike Lane.

The police consider the vehicle’s movements significant and are appealing for witnesses who may have seen the car or have any information about its occupants. The Range Rover is a critical lead in tracing those responsible for Camilo’s murder.

How are the police encouraging the public to come forward?

Detective Inspector Devan Taylor, heading the investigation, has urged the public to provide any information that could help identify the perpetrators. He acknowledges that it has been three years since Camilo’s death and stresses that the investigation remains active.

Taylor has said:

“We will not stop until those responsible for his death face justice. Camilo was shot on a public street in a residential area, and we believe there may be witnesses who have not yet spoken to us. Even the smallest piece of information about the distinctive Range Rover or the events that night could be vital.”

To encourage witnesses to speak up, especially those hesitant to contact the police directly, Crimestoppers has stepped in to offer an anonymous channel. Alexa Loukas, London Regional Manager at Crimestoppers, said:

“Someone out there knows something that could help bring justice for Camilo and his family. People can share information anonymously without providing any personal details.”

A reward of up to £20,000 is available for information that leads to the identification and conviction of those responsible. Authorities have reassured that anonymity is guaranteed for tipsters.

What actions have been taken in the investigation so far?

Since the murder, police have made significant efforts to solve the case. Eleven people have been arrested in connection with the investigation. Two men were convicted for perverting the course of justice related to this case but the actual shooter has not yet been identified.

In a related development, the dark Range Rover connected to the murder investigation was set on fire deliberately in the early hours of 25 July 2022 on Alexandra Road in Barnet. This is believed to be an attempt to destroy evidence.

Despite these efforts, no convictions have been made for the murder itself. The investigation remains open under the codename “Operation Wattside.”

How can the public provide information?

Anyone with information related to the case is encouraged to contact the Metropolitan Police by calling 101 or reporting online via the Major Incident Police Portal, quoting “Operation Wattside.” Alternatively, information can be passed anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

The police and Crimestoppers emphasise that any detail, no matter how small it seems, could be instrumental in bringing justice for Camilo Palacio and providing answers for his family.
