Syed Enam Ahammad is an MPhil researcher in Law at SOAS, University of London, where his research examines institutionalised Islamophobia in local politics in Britain. He has previously taught law at the University of Winchester and South Thames College, London. He has professional experience across the UK local and central government, including work with the National Crime Agency, the Home Office and local authority housing and children’s services. He has also served as an elected Councillor in the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham. Syed holds an LLM in Human Rights Law from Queen Mary University of London, alongside qualifications in law and international relations. His research and writing interests include human rights, Islamophobia, racism, discrimination, environmental law and political affairs in the UK and South Asia. His articles and commentary have been published in a range of newspapers, journals and online platforms.
