Samuel O. Idowu receives Springer Nature recognition

Samuel O. Idowu, editor of the Journal of Sustainable Business, has been recognised in the Springer Nature Editor of Distinction Awards 2026, receiving two major honours for his outstanding contributions to academic publishing.

The awards celebrate excellence within the global editorial community and acknowledge editors who demonstrate exceptional commitment to the peer review process and author support.

Idowu has been awarded:

  • Editorial Contribution Award – recognising placement among the top 20% of editors based on manuscript handling and peer review stewardship.
  • Author Service Award – recognising placement among the top 20% for efficiency in delivering timely and constructive editorial decisions.

These distinctions reflect his continued dedication to maintaining high editorial standards, supporting academic authors, and contributing to the advancement of research in sustainable business studies.

In a statement, Springer Nature highlighted the importance of editors like Idowu in strengthening the scholarly publishing ecosystem, noting their role in ensuring rigorous peer review and improving the quality of published research.

The Editor of Distinction Awards are presented annually to recognise outstanding editorial performance across Springer Nature’s global journal network.

Idowu expressed appreciation for the recognition, stating that the award reflects not only his personal commitment but also the collaborative efforts of authors, reviewers, and editorial board members involved in the journal’s development.

He added that he remains committed to promoting academic excellence and supporting the growth of research communities worldwide.

Samuel O Idowu is PhD Professor of Accounting and Sustainability at the Guildhall School of Business and Law, London Metropolitan University. He is a fellow member of the Chartered Governance Institute, a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, a Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Chartered Governance Institute and a named freeman of the City of London. He is the CEO and President of the Global Corporate Governance Institute an international network of CSR scholars based in more than 40 countries around the globe. Samuel is the Editor-in-Chief of four major global reference books by Springer – the Encyclopedia of Corporate Social Responsibility (ECSR), the Dictionary of Corporate Social Responsibility (DCSR) and the Encyclopedia of Sustainable Management (ESM), Encyclopedia of Circular Economy and he is a Series Editor for Springer’s CSR, Sustainability, Ethics and Governance Research Series on Responsible Enterprise Ecosystems and Transformative Education for Eco-innovation and Responsible Management books. Samuel is the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Sustainable Business (JSB) and the American Journal of Economics and Business Administration (AJEBA). Samuel has been in academia for almost 4 decades winning one of the Highly Commended Awards of Emerald Literati Network Awards for Excellence in 2008 and 2014. In 2010, one of his edited books was placed in 18th position out of forty top Sustainability books by Cambridge University Programme for Sustainability Leadership and in 2016 one of his books won the outstanding Business Reference Book of the year of the American Library Association. In 2018 he won a CSR Leadership Award in Cologne, Germany and in 2019 he won the 101 Most Impactful CSR Leaders Award in Mumbai, India. In 2025, he won one of Springer’s Editors of the year Awards for the Journal of Sustainable Business.
